I always pick up the latter triangle era Herbrand in spite of the fact that some of it was imported.

I have yet to see any of that style tubing wrenches in the wild. Not sure how often I would use that style, but I'm always looking to uhh.....diversify my tool collection.

That style tubing wrench is common to the aviation areas as we have a lot of the larger style "B" nuts that were this size and larger. I have seen these for years and for the most part as long as the plating is solid the wrenches were still in use in the industry. The instant the plating starts to be wore the wrench is removed from service as it can cause foreign object damage.

I did order and get some new double box wrenches from a eBay seller today and pictures are below, these are new old stock and I had the complete set years ago but over the years I had 4 of the set 5 stolen. I am still looking for a 1/2" X 9/16ths and will continue to monitor eBay.

I'm kinda late to the thread, but here's my Bonney collection.

Not much, but all are complements of my Grandfather who passed away in 1994.

I had forgotten about the starter screwdriver until today.

Enjoy.

Dang nice sets, Mike!:thumbup: I saw those sets on the bay, just don't have the funds right now to go for them. I have the top and bottom one of the four - those middle two are rarer.

I have a spare 1/2 x 9/16, #2805L. Is that the one you lack?

Welcome to the party (we don't mind late comers!)

Can't say I've ever seen such a Bonney screw starter before. Interesting!
And the two letter code on your wrenches will allow you to date them.

Yes I am looking for a 2805L to complete the set. I now have a 2807A (5/8ths by 11/16ths) that I have as a spare. I just do not know which I give up the 35 years of use on my original 2807A or the NOS.

Bonney sockets always seem to stand out (to me anyway) in a bin of other sockets because of the off-gray chrome color and the font and the little triangle under the "Y" in Bonney.

And "need" has nothing to do with Bonney collecting!:lol_hitti

This just came in this morning in my mailbox. I got this 1/2" torque wrench off eBay. It looks to be new old stock and it still has the original box. I had a craftsman old clicker style torque wrench but this one is much better.

I got the new torque wrench for around $60.00 including the shipping. I always wanted a 1/2" Bonney/Utica torque wrench and when I saw this one I HAD TO HAVE IT.

I have had a 1/4" Bonney/Utica for over 30 years but never had the 1/2" now I got both. The 3/8" I never seen the need for and I have never used them.

The old clicker Craftsman will become my loaner torque wrench now, I just had it certified in March just before I retired so it all good for at least ten years.

Water pump pliers. Gotta love it!

I asked a salesperson for a pair of water pump pliers, and he looked at me like I was from the moon. Then an old timer came up, and handed me exactly what I wanted.

Years ago I dropped a wrench and could not reach it but it was where I saw it. I go to the tool room and ask the female clerk for a mechanical fingers. She burst out laughing and said I was pulling her leg. The Kellerman walks up and hands me the mechanical fingers. Some folks do not have a clue. Water pump pliers and dog bones (ratcheting wrenches) they know as we used them a lot something different then that's another story

Well, that's what they are, right?! Before the name of the tool become synonymous with the improved Channellock design. Doesn't help when they have 18 yr old's working at places and they don't have a clue about, well, anything really. :dunno:

eBay delivered up a pair of battery terminal and grease cup pliers today, beautifully dark. Both halves had a pronounced clockwise twist along the handles, maybe 20°, making them difficult to hold properly. I removed the twist a little at a time along the length of each, with vise and adjustable wrench. My guess is someone put ViseGrips on them to twist something stubborn, and wound up twisting the pliers out of shape and didn't think to straighten them. While I had them apart, I cleaned the lead out of the teeth and brushed the rust off. I don't see any other date-indicating marks, beside the shield and "Pat Feb 24, 1920."

Thanks to Bonneyman I got a 2805L to complete my set of long SAE double box wrenches. After I agree to buy the wrench from Bonneyman I found my 2804L and 2805L but the 1/2" has a crack in my original. I did not see it until I cleaned the wrench of 35 years of grease and oil that was it. I really appreciate what Bonneyman did in sending me his NOS wrench. She's a beauty.

After I got my mail the wife wanted me out of the house as her Filipina friends were coming over so I took off and went to another pawn shop and found this 2893B. The wrench was covered in dirt grime and rust and after I wire brushed it, it came out way better then I expected.

OH yeah. Now on to the harder part. I am in search of metric Bonney tools. I have the 16 and 19 MM MEBL wrenches and I found the 10, 11, 12 and 14 MM longs on eBay and bought them. Those will be in next week after the wrenches then on to the sockets. The Bonney search saga continues

I have been looking for metric long as well, when you factor in international shipping there isnt any on ebay, hoping a set will come up one day.

This morning's Bonney finds. The CV 1025 DOE is marked GQ, so completes my 1920s no.25 "no repeats or hesitation" set.

Don't give up hope. I waited and searched and scrounged for 10 years before I finally found the last two metric DBE's I was looking for. They are out there - you just gotta find them.

About three weeks ago a metric long set showed up with the vinyl roller bag for $195.00 U.S. on eBay and the seller was from Great Britain. There were no bids and the set was not sold. Just hang in there and seller might list it again.

Bonneyman, what's the chance of finding enough Bonney stubby DBE wrenches in Whitworth to make a small set?

There are some Bonney Whitworth wrenches on eBay that have a "W" prefix to the model number. Does that indicate Whitworth? There's no "W" next to the size stamped on the wrench.

I'm looking for consecutive sizes 1/8W - 9/16W. I'm not patient enough to look for 10 years and don't need them bad enough to pay $20/wrench.:lol_hitti

Thats odd as I never saw them and I haven't been able to find the listing by searching for ended listings.

Although I have just bought a 12mm standard for £8 and an 11 and 19 long from the US which cost $70 by the time shipping and import tax is added, the seller also has a 16 and 17 but I already have those.

Dutchgray you beat me to it. Bonney and Herbrand also had very similar wrenches. I been having a difficult time finding a 9/16ths open box long wrench and I found a 9/16ths Herbrand on eBay and ordered that. It has the same design as the Bonney.

I never knew Bonney made Whitworth stuff until someone posted those tools on GJ. I've never seen any in the wild - you could be in for a long haul on those.

You know Bonney made Matco wrenches at one time right.

Yes, the chrome on Bonney is very distinctive - to my eye at least. I can be digging through a bin of old wrenches or sockets - and immediately see Bonney chrome.
And when you compare Bonney to those tools they made for other manufacturers the similarities jump right out at you. I don't know if I posted this side by side shot before - if I have, please pardon the repeat pics.

Bonney and Bonney-made Matco angle wrench:
