Recent debacles.
RF54 intrigues because it is entirely matte chrome with no polish, and no “USA”!
Then I went and snagged four NSN 5120010560871 sets from the Triangle era, all 12pt LocRite except the the 5mm ones are 6pt. But one has three 10mm sockets and missing the 7mm and 9mm. Bummer, but now a new quest. One of the totes is missing the barcode label, so thinking of selling the sockets instead of hunting for the missing ones, and moving fractional 1/4dr sockets into it.

I might be interested in the metric set. I have a few missing in the metric set. See my picture.

Looks like the only one I have you need is the 5.5mm. These sets range from 5mm-14mm.
You know I still be interested if you decide to sell a set. The reason is the most often sockets I have broken has been the 1/4" set. Just thinking a backup set would be nice.

I would also be interested in a set with or without the tote, as I have no metric 1/4 bonney sockets, although I have some deeps incoming, got most of them in inch sizes in shallow and deep though, amazing sockets, really thin wall.
Provided you would ship to the UK
Great find, 4 sets of metric has to be rare.

Now let’s go big. I just ordered on eBay a R-702K 3/4” ratchet. Will be in sometime late this week early next week. Don’t need it but i do have a set of 3/4” sockets from another brand and I hate the ratchet that came with it.

Found an older Bonaly DBE in 1/2x9/16. Should clean up fine. Not a big collector of these but one can't have too many shorty offset box wrenches in these sizes.

I have one also and it is a odd ball but it has a purpose and I have used it several times when I had a tight clearance issue in a area on my Ford Falcon.

Yeah, this one is not Loc-Rite but is nice and short so it'll work well inside an AC unit to remove backside compressor bolts.

Item 1, Well Its big and it has arrived and I now am the owner of a 3/4" R-702K ratchet. It is fairly clean and it has seen definite usage as around the ratchet reversing level has a few nicks and scratches but overall it is in excellent condition.

Item 2, A K-70 Spark plug gapper. I always done gapping of spark plugs the old fashion way and never even knew Bonney ever made one of these. It is definitely different and I will be trying it out this spring when I do a tuneup on my garden tractor.

Item 3 and 4, 2 sockets. first one is a 1/2" drive MALH10 6 point 10 mm deep socket and the second is 1/4" drive VH5 5/32" 6 point socket.

The first 3 items are items I never had in my basic kit that I bought originally in 1983 only the 5/32 socket is a replacement for a broken socket that I have. All these items were off eBay that I ordered since right after Christmas and I knew several were going to be delayed due to holiday rush and the bad weather on the eastern 2/3s of the country.

I think Indesto was stamping those out for everybody except Snap-on - I see them listed on Ebay in all kinds of different brands.
I've had mine since the early 1970s. Works great.

When I saw it on eBay it interested me to go ahead and buy it now. I never recall seeing one until it showed up. The first year I was in the Air Force I was originally trained as a forklift mechanic and back then we were using feeler gauges to set spark plug gaps.
The patent number is the same as the one you link from Indesto Tools. I agree that it is a slick and nifty tool and I will use it going forward to adjust spark plug gaps

I'd love to hear what part of the country you were in when you bought your set, what type of store, and why you chose Bonney. If that's all too nosy, disregard, haha.

I was still active duty Air Force in late 1983 stationed at Nellis AFB, Nevada. I originally bought my basic set of Bonney tools after determining that I would not reenlist in Active duty but would go into the Air Force Reserve when my time was up in late 1986.

I needed a tool set and I got the hold of the dealers and jobbers that were serving the tool needs of the base. I had known about various tool brands that were there and I got quotes from Mac, Snap-on, and Bonney. I choice Bonney for the basic set as they were the cheapest and the jobber was able to also included a basic toolbox in the kit. The jobber that I got my toolset was from Grainger.

I had known about using Bonney tools at the time as they had government contracts and I had used Bonney tools working aircraft in the Air Force, we also used Thorsen, Mac and limited Snap-on. So I was familiar with all the tool brands that the various bases used. I had no issue what brand to buy and I went for the one that actually gave me the best bang for my money. At the time I worked part time at the Montgomery Wards tire center in Las Vegas doing quick repairs and tires and I had a older Craftsman set in a hand carry box that what I needed there but I realized that if I decided that I would be leaving the Air Force soon that I needed to upgrade to better tools.

So I bought the Bonney set for $1150.00 and it included 1/4", 3/8" 1/2" sets in SAE and metric in 1/4" and 3/8" in sockets in shallow and deep well, the set also had the ratchets 2 of the 1/2", 2 of the 3/8ths, 1 of the 3/8ths flex head (I broke this ratchet several years ago and recently found a new old stock that is my new replacement) and 2 of the 1/4" ratchets (note I lost 1 of the 3/8ths and 1/4" ratchets over the years). In wrenches I had SAE 5/16" to 1" set and in Metric 8 MM to 20 MM, Flare wrenches in SAE 3/8" to 7/8" and metric 9 mm to 21 MM, double box end wrenches from 3/8" to 7/8" a set of SAE ignition wrenches with feeler gauges. It also had a hacksaw, screwdriver set, flaring kit and adjustable wrenches and various pliers. These tools were all put in a Waterloo 27" roller and top toolbox branded with Bonney name on the box. The toolbox was used my entire career of almost 30 years I was employed at Boeing until I retired in April of last year.

It should be noted that my basic set was heavily favoring SAE as my set was more set up to be used on aircraft and even to this day after 30 years at Boeing they still use SAE fasteners on their aircraft. I did have metric sets but not as intensive as the SAE and I kept the metric sets at home as I did not need them working for Boeing, I have since retired in April of last year from Boeing.

View media item 79463Nice 1/4" ratchet and sockets, 12pt inch and 6pt metric, a couple of the inch sizes fill gaps but mostly these are duplicates of sockets I already have, they were cheap though.
Nos 13mm saltus, this was definitely not cheap.
14mm long, traded with Twertsy for a bonaloy DOE.

Hi all, here are pictures of my Bonney long pattern mostly satin 237xx SAE set from 3/8 to 1". I started with a 9/16, then found the rest over time via Ebay, junk shops and Carlisle events. My 3/8 and 15/16 are not satin, but are what I have found so far. I would trade one for one if someone wants to help me. The 7/8 is a Herbrand that matches the set very closely. My 9/16 was MIA during the pictures, but has been found unscathed. The 1/2 and 5/8 came from an HJE closeout and were not as well finished as the others. I like the feel of this wrench set. STMH

I would strongly consider being unethical (how's that for being PC:lol_hitti) for a set of metric bonney SALTUS wrenches.

Nice grouping by the way.

Is a Bonney 1/2" ratchet labeled Chrysler of any value? Came across one that looked neat but I passed

Gold colored? If so it cane as part of a Chrysler MTSC award. They had a different tool every year, by a few mfrs. I think I've seen both a regular 3/8 with some sockets, and a 3/8 flex with a spark plug socket in Bonney flavor. Also a set of gold Channellocks, a set of black handle/gold shaft Ivy nutdrivers, and a crows foot ratchet that looked like an Easco, among others.

The Bonney metric long wrenches are rather difficult to find and I have a set going from 10-20 MM missing the 13 MM and the 15 MM and I know that likely these were lost by my son years ago. I never needed metric sets working Boeing aircraft even to this day they still use SAE fasteners. So my set was left at home and I used them in the home setting. At this time I found on eBay the Matco wrenches in 13 and 15 MM and they work. I personally want to find those 2 sizes and I will eventually get them but for now the Matco set does work.

I also a 8 MM and 19 MM short wrenches and they are nice that I got it on a eBay auction and the items were in a group of metric sockets and such so I just got it with the sockets.

With help from twertsy and Mikeske I was able to put together a spare set of Cam-Locs for use at work.
From the pics you can see that they were variously labeled. AC Service, Bonney, Utica, Swage-Lok, Cam-Loc(k), TKE. I'm also sure I've seen some Kelsey-Hayes. Now I'm covered from 1/2" thru 7/8", minus the 13/16'".

Congrats, Bonneyman. Nice set. If by "spare set" you mean a second set to a set you have at home, even better! I can confirm CAM-LOC's marked 'KELSEY HAYES TOOL DIV', but I don't know if they're from before or after they owned Bonney and Utica. In my experience, the most prevalent licensee was T.K. Fisher in St Claire Shores. Despite Snap-On making them (from 3/8" to 1") for almost ten years, I seem to see those the least.

Nice old stock!

Seems like aerospace and military stockrooms have alot of Bonney hiding in them. Just wish the inventory that came out of the Alameda Naval Base in Oakland CA would become available.

I got a lot of old Boeing surplus stuff as they used to have a surplus sales store in Kent, Washington. It was about 6-7 years ago that they finally closed it down and now only sale to surplus/liquidation companies it is kind of disappointing as I got tables, steel cabinets, drills by the pound now no more.

On the sockets a couple of them had a alpha/number on them and I could identify it as that was the tool room I used a lot when I worked on the 747 line before going to the 777 line in Everett.

Picked up two items last night.
The PH8 hammer troubles me, because I haven’t found that size in the catalogs. PH7s are 16oz & PH9s are 24oz, so maybe PH8s are 20oz (I’ll weigh it when I get a minute) but what catalog are they in? From the stamped safety warning on the handle (split near the head, but I think original), I’m guessing this is a later production. 1970s, maybe?
The 30° open-end service wrench dates from 1930, which I thought was a cool councidence.
Also had my hands on a pristine chrome 4091 CV-script 1/2dr extension (with the ridged grip) vendor wanted $10. In hindsight, I should have counter-offered, because when I checked the plain steel one I already have, it isn’t the script logo. Ah well, maybe another will turn up one day.
Edit - took head off hammer - it weighed 19oz, so most likely 20oz nominal. I really don’t think much of salvaging the handle. I’ve got two good replacement handles the same size. It’s split almost through in two planes, missing some splinters. It seems to have “H&M” stamped into base, so a point to research.
