They're all 1XXX model number series, which was the CV DOE engineers line. The "***" of the "1XXX" model number (or second, third, and fourth digits) are the ISN. The "7" in the model numbers is part of the ISN. For example, a "1025" wrench is an ISN 25, which has 1/2" x 19/32" openings. The "1725" wrench is not an ISN 25, it's an ISN 725, which has 7/16" x 1/2" openings.

I was in a old style hardware store (open 105 years) and found new old stock Williams wrenches and a new old stock Bonney 1276 Circle CV 2 3/8ths wrench. for $5.00 each. I picked up one for myself.

I did not look to close at the speeders but everything else were Williams but the Bonney's and I assume that the speeders were Williams. I do not think I would want to try and document what they had but here is the old style receipt from buying the wrench

I'm in Tacoma. That's 2 hours one way with no traffic on I-5, which happens only at about 3:00 am.
Usually it's two hours just from Seattle to Tacoma now.

1hour 52 minutes from me. Four.cycle must live down the road from me.

Its only about 25 minutes for me as I live in north Skagit County by the freeway, Lets see 2 hours to get around Seattle, then a hour around Lynnwood and Everett then 30 minutes at Marysville and finally break free at Smokey Point. From there its light traffic

I was told they spent 17 years on "the mousetrap" at the junction of I-25 and I-70 in Denver.
I think WSDOT is trying to break that record with that stretch of I-5 between Exit 132 and Exit 137.

Damn. Mrs LesserSon & I turned left at Mt Rainier this summer; should have turned right. We passed through some lovely country along coastal Oregon. We ate ice cream and cheese at Tillamook, watched sea lions and whales near Depoe Bay, but the only Bonney I saw was back at a yard sale in WA, around Mineral.

LesserSon -
Just a note on your first photo above - the one looking up into the headwaters of the Nisqually River from the bridge:
When I was 14 years old you could see the toe of the glacier from that vantage point.
It has now receded far up the valley from that point.

LesserSon image of upper Nisqually MRNP.jpg

Sorry you got the crappy (normal) weather. Here's what it looks like on a sunny day:

Yeah, that was a big part of our decision to drive out this year: glaciers almost gone that used to be visible and accessible. They won’t be around much longer. We headed to Glacier NP in Montana and did hike up to a good vantage to see Grinnell glacier, but ironically, there was still too much unstable snow on the trail to get all the way to it. No Bonney wrenches up there, either, though I did find a nesting colony of “Bonney” red jammers.
Mt Rainier was shy about revealing its top (we had a couple-seconds view from the east as we approached), but I did see my first brown bear on its slopes.
Thanks for the “sunny day” view!

If you are talking about Hwy 410 (Steven P. Mather Memorial Parkway):
I have lived here my entire life and I tell the tourists up there clicking away with their cameras and cell phones in the bright sunshine "If you drive up here a hundred times, you will be lucky to get maybe three or four clear sunny days and a view of the east side of Rainier- enjoy it while you can."
The mountain makes its own weather and it doesn't care whether or not you get that "selfie".

I see your luck was about the same at Glacier. On the one and only day I was fortunate enough to drive up and over Going To The Sun Road, I stopped and spoke with an NPS Ranger for a bit. He told me the reason the traffic was bumper-to-bumper and moving at about 10 mph was because that was the first sunny day they had seen all season.

Lesserson, that fleet of White trucks( I believe they are styled after the model 706; late 1930's time frame.) is ultra cool in my book. Those things may be/have been serviced by a mechanic using Bonney tools at some point in their very long lives.

Probably! I was led to research and admire the 706s, particularly the Glacier ones (spotted a yellow one in Yellowstone) after buying a Snap-on K23 at a yard sale a few summers ago. It had bee painted red, and a PO had mounted the side nameplate from a White truck above the top drawer.
After a LOT of internet digging, stumbled onto a picture of a jammer (from before they were rebuilt - most rebuilt ones lack the nameplate - and figured it might have come from one of those. Here’s my first post on it:

4.C - yes, that’s the view!

Found a old Bonney 907A a 1 1/8th wrench and a 2276A P&W wrench at the same place I found the old service wrench. I decided to go and take a closer and more detailed look without the wife as she was hurrying me when I found the service wrench.

As I recall, Bonney was a big supplier to the military/aerospace industries, so there being alot of old and used Bonney tools in the Seattle area due to such industries makes sense.

I just wish I was closer!:lol_hitti

As of matter of fact they are getting harder find out here. Actually I seen more by eBay from the east coast. Bonney supplied Boeing for years but they tend to keep them even today. When I worked there I made sure to keep my Bonney tools marked so I would not be questioned about having Bonney tools. Also helped that my old Waterloo toolbox had the Bonney logo on it.

You might want to give Charlie's Second Hand store in downtown Denver a call. Last time I checked they had a decent stash of NOS Bonney stuff. Sockets mostly. When visiting friends in Denver I went to their store and the guy led me down into the basement - a whole wall of shelves filled with Bonney boxes. :shocking: They may ship.

Hmm. So that's Mikeske and bonneyman been holdin' out on us for a few years. Anybody else feel like fessin' up about vintage Bonney stashes!? :)

You know the funny thing is I bought my original Bonney toolset from Grainger in Las Vegas as they were the local jobber in my area. They were excellent in support of the tools and I had a couple warranty items and they changed them out without a issue before I moved up to Washington State 30 plus years ago.

When Bonney was still in business I still go to the local Grainger store in Everett Washington and they honored the Bonney warranty also. Made it easy for me to warranty anything I broke. The last time I had something to warranty something in 1993 they informed me that Bonney was no longer in business and replaced the tool with a SK tool. Great people to work with.

OMG I feel like my entire summer was wasted. First I missed the Washington store with Bonney NOS, then I drove right through Denver and never stopped, and finally right past Rick’s tool hoard in St. Louis.
They say location location location is key to success, but I think even when the location is there, knowledge may be the true key!

You must have much better employees than I. The last (and final) time I went there I stood in "line" (I was the only person there) for 20 minutes to buy welding expendables and a helmet, with 2 gents behind the counters. Nobody said a single word to me, FOR 20 MINUTES! I set everything down on the floor in front of their counter and headed out, hearing their "WTF" behind me. I turned around and "explained" my actions, cancelled my corporate account, and walked out, never to return. This wasn't the first time with this particular store, but it WAS the last.

The last time for me was around 1999 for me and it was because of pricing not that great. But back in the day they did have decent service.

And I have my own parking space.

If you ever come across old tools that are etched with “POD” that was the old Pueblo Ordinance Depot.

I have been in the basement as well. That place is Intense. You could spend days in there digging.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrenches 3061, 3070,

The problem, as I see it, is getting across Kansas. That is one looong, flaaat drive.
I think air or rail is the only way I’m getting back to Denver. (Alright, that’s Boulder. I didn’t take any pics in Denver.)
