Mikeske, yeah. I’m still figuring things out here. I mentioned in my introduction post that I’m not a big social media guy. I’m familiar with the taking pictures correctly with my phone. It looks like I can post correctly when I do it through the regular website. When I use the garage journal app, it doesn’t post them right. I’ll figure it out.

I have never used the app and refused to even load it as I had issues before on a tractor forum I was member with their app. I just post through the regular site and never had any really big issues except with the pictures not oriented correctly and I found a work around for that.

Thats pretty much it. There are a couple stragglers in my box I haven’t taken pictures of yet, and if anyone wants more detailed pictures of anything, just let me know.

I have some other brands of vintage tools too, I’ll search for the appropriate threads.

Nice collection, Rainman. You have pieces I haven't even seen in the wild, like those Bonney swivel sockets. :)

I generally avoid postwar tools, but I picked all these 3/8-inch drive pieces out of a mess of 3/8-inch drive sockets in the bottom of a filthy motley mix box at the flea this morning and couldn't leave them behind. It's an interesting span, from wartime to immediate postwar to 1948. The universal joint has the prewar/wartime 'MADE IN U.S.A.' marking and it's natural steel finish. Half of the sockets and the drag link bit are also 'MADE IN U.S.A.' but chromed (guessing 1946-ish). The other half are just 'U.S.A.' and chromed (late 40's). The crowfeet are date coded "GZ" (1948). I think I have some 3/8-inch drive handles somewhere around here, at least a rat, to mate with them.

Lugz-My guess on that 6 pt crow foot is that it was part of an engine or equipment repair kit. The torque range rather than a maximum value for the tool is the clue for me.

Heck Lugz that is a nice bunch of chrome you've got there. :eyecrazy:
Thanks. I gathered all the Bonney 3/8-inch drive pieces I have for a family pic, remembered I have a few other special crowfeet, two deeps, and two handles (T35 ratchet and T36 sliding tee) to turn everything with. Now all I need is a 20" wide box so the T6 XL extension will fit! :p

So, one of these sockets is on one side of 1946, and one is on the other? How tight is the changeover?

My latest eBay find a 23MM 3/8ths 6 point MTLH23 socket. Now I just need to find a 22MM to complete the set from 10MM to the 23MM

Well I forgot to add these 2 wrenches in that I found doing my pawn shopping. A E2426 a double open end 3/4 X 1 3/16ths wrench and a double box end 2893B with a satin finish with 3/4 X 7/8ths.

A recent eBuy caused me to rearrange my H-series DOEs under glass. At first, I was just going to replace the upper-right quadrant of non-Zenels. It’s a lot of twisted stove wire, but I chose to move the CVs to the center and spread Streamline and Outline across the top. This has slightly unbalance the weight, as the larger/heavier end of each CV is on the right, adding to the weight of the solitary H15 on the bottom right. (Yes, I actually took that into consideration the first time, and arranged the CV this time H16, H18, H14 L-to-R to compensate as much as possible.)
Fortunately the frame and glass add enough mass that the imbalance does not cause the whole to hang askew. Still need H18, H10 in Streamline and H14 in Outline to “complete” the display, and hopefully rebalance the weight.

I haven’t seen one before and the price was right. The junk store is not far from the Ft. Hood, Killeen area and the tool has engravings. The side that’s hard to read says “B27 ARMY BSEC. Wondering if it was in the officer’s Motorpool to work on bikes?..

Most likely that the spoke wrench was used in the recreation shops. Most military bases had a recreation office where the members could reserve and use bikes tents and assorted different equipment for camp outs along with boats. The bases posts also had a wood and auto hobby shops.

We lived at Killeen when I was about thirteen, and my Father knew someone so that were able to use the Lapidary Shop, saws, grinders, polishers, lots of very nice equipment....so it likely came from someplace like that, hopefully not stolen....

I was watching those. Very nice set. Great condition, but not from an era of current interest to me. I was going to bid only if no-one else did.
You weren’t the only bidder; there were two others besides you. I expected them to go for more, too.
Glad they went to someone who posts!
