Hi all,
I have a compression question that I need help with. I am going to put my Atlas drill press back together and it came with a spring to help rasie and lower the head. The spring is inside the tube (bench model) and the tube is about 4 ft. long. The spring is about 5 ft. long and is compressed inside and then held together by a cable and pulley that attached to the head on one end and a 'cap' with althread on the other.
My question is what is the best way to compress the spring and get the cap and nut on the althread? Sorry, I am at work and my pics are at home which I will try and add tonight. I have a piece of pipe at home that I can shorten which I think will fit inside the pipe.
