So I have 1.3 acres to attend to. Not super large, but enough where i need quality equipment. Personally, I’ve had great luck with gas powered equipment, hedgers, chainsaws, blowers, etc.

I have two go too brands:

  • Husky (for almost everything)
  • Predator (for any in-between)

What are you using?

Makita/Dolmar Chain Saws and brush cutter, Echo Chain Saws.

Bought 3 Echos' new for half price, otherwise, I would not own them, they are high quality home owner grade.

We heat with wood, I spend allot of time running a saw.

I bought the husky rancher, plus an extended hedger. Probably going to bite the bullet and buy their forestry clearing saw this year.

We have 9 acres, although much of it is woods. I have a '65 Ford tractor, a Husqvarna ZT and weed whacker, a Stihl 361 chainsaw, a Troy-Bilt Horse tiller, and numerous attachments and hand tools. I just mowed for the second time yesterday, and am about to plant the vegetable garden. My favorite toy is the 8" wood chipper for the tractor.

I'm on 30 acres and am 95% on firewood for heat so I do a ton of logging. I also make and maintain food plots for deer hunting. Besides the big JD 990 tractor and implements I use two different Stihl chainsaws. I have an older German-made Stihl 044 which is a beast! I also have a Stihl 251 Wood Boss...which is a piece of ****. It's underpowered and more of a casual home owner's saw. It's OK for delimbing and bucking up smaller logs. I bought it about 6 years ago to replace my Husqvarna 350 that I bought new in 2001. Think I am going to have the crank seals replaced on the 350, as I do miss that saw.

Here's my ATV set up for getting smaller stuff off the land. For bigger trees I use the JD 990. The trailer is the DR Versa-Trailer. One of the best investments I made for work on my land.
