Trying to track down a retail supplier of spring tension hose clamps that will sell small quantities in various sizes. I'm located in Tucson, Arizona.

Examples of clamps are:
1) Gates worm drive that have a spring behind the screw head, or
2) Norma "torro" series, which are worm drive but use a double band with spring steel loops in-between the bands, or
3) McAllister-Carr either the wire type or wide body type that are normally used on automotive cooling systems and require specialty pliers to remove.

Any input appreciated.

The Mcallister-Carr wire type are commonly known as Corbin Clamps such as used on older mopar hoses.
Did you try googling the Gates and Norma?
It ought to get you to the suppliers.

I harvest various clamps from the junkyard when I'm there. If you buy some parts they'll usually let you have them for free. Otherwise a few bucks for a bag of assorted clamps.

I like constant tension hose clamps. Most parts stores have boxed assortments of the smaller sizes. I've always scavenged the larger sizes from U-Pull wrecking yards.

Thanks all for responses (still unresolved)

You won't believe how difficult it is to find retail supplier for these clamps.

Contacted: Autozone, Oreilly's, NAPA, PEP Boys, number local auto supply houses,
Car Dealers, Aircraft Suppliers, Internet turned up nothing in US for NORMA
-- sent email to NORMA Australia (never received response), Set email to Gates
(received reply with number for one local truck parts supplier but clamps were 3+ inches
and they didn't carry or know where to get smaller sizes.

Have a few junk yards in my area, but want new clamps as constant tension clamps exposed to elements may have some issues.

Will do a search for "Corbin" clamps.

ebay has them in kit form or buy them by the size/quantity.

i would think i could get these through work. as every european car i work on uses these. i generally use the thin metric style hose clamps when replacing these or the cv boot style crimped clamps.

dw,
Try Wurth, or ROGO fasteners.
These Fastener outfits that deal to the automotive trade will probably be your best bet. Wurth and Rogo (many others too) will have salesman that should be familiar with what you seek as they are in and out of cars shops every day.
They will be professional quality items.

You can also see if Wurth or Winzer have those parts and they do sell small quanities, they are a bit on the pricey side but the products they sell are fairly good products.

I've used and re-used spring type hose clamps off old bmw and often replaced worm type clamps on other cars with them. As long as you use the appropriate size and don't bend them to deformation, I honestly cannot fathom one ever failing during the life of a car. Has anyone ever had one fail? Not trying to sway your decision to use new clamps, just sort of curious. Thanks.

Jim,
Is Winzer still around?
I haven't thought of them in years. Hope they are.

Thanks again all. Will spend today checking out post.

Re: "theskipper". I have the McMaster-Carr part number, just don't need 100 of each size.

Yep, had several of them fail. Just had one in the shop last week. One of the ears rusted off and was causing a leak. Looked like a water pump leak until I realized it was coming from the hose. So, yes they do fail and fail often in the rust belt. I always replace them with worm gear clamps.

ECD is the biggest cause of hose and clamp failure.
Not fan of worm drive as don't compensate for cooling cycle.

Check with heavy truck repair suppliers. Many dealers have extensive parts departments. The spring loaded worm screw clamps are used on many diesel intake (turbo) and cooling systems.

Depending on the sizes you need, you might want to check out heat shrink hose clamps. Quite a few of the heavy truck and construction equipment manufacturers are using them now, and I've never had a problem with them that I can attribute to the clamp itself. The only downside is that they aren't reusable because you have to cut them off, but assortments are widely available through various sources including Gates rubber.
