I first saw square hole (3/8") metal pegboard from either Hazet or Gedore. It seemed like it would solve all of the standard pegboard problems; metal panels, better accessory selection, retention on the panel, etc.

Both sell all sorts of fancy accessories, but it is pricey in the US, especially shipping for panels. I gave up for a while, tried Wall Control pegboard, and then came across Triton LocBoard.

Much cheaper and easier to source (Amazon). A little more digging and it turns out the same format pegboard and accessories can also be sourced from Kennedy, Grainger (house brand) or Zoro, and Bott Perfo. The Triton and Grainger panels appear to be different manufacturers. The Bott and Gedore might be the same and the Hazet appears to be different again. I don't have a Kennedy for reference.

There are two retention systems, the basic one using a sheet metal screw to wedge the clips in place, and the other using a rotating plastic knob (Kennedy, Bott, and now Triton with LocHook 2.0). I purchased some LocHook 1.0 and Grainger/Zoro hooks and they appear very similar. I also purchased some Kennedy and Bott accessories and they appear to use a different style of plastic locking knob. I haven't seen LocHook 2.0 for sale, but it appears to also be different from Kennedy or Bott.
Hope this info helps someone else.
