Square tip drivers

I've been looking for some. Surprisingly I can't find any in the usual online places I browse like tooltopia. Maybe they have a different name? Or could someone point me toward some new premium square tip screwdrivers.

WERA makes some good ones, all others I've tried round off really fast.

Witte Protop are perfect. Essential for any electrical work. They don't round off as the screws will go WAY before the tip. The screws are incredibly soft. Witte is actually made in Germany, unlike Wera. I imagine Wiha would be awesome too. I have never been let down by anything Wiha. The above can be had for cheaper than Klien, whose quality in screwdrivers is lacking, but makes some of the best pliers and THE BEST cutters.

i actually like craftsman..ive used the same one daily for 5 years without a problem..ill grab one whenever i find a clearance or sale at sears,but havent got past the first one yet......do yourself a favor and dont buy kobalt..they had them clearanced at lowes for .99 a piece so i got 10 of them,but theyre junk

the ones from McFeely's are pretty good and priced fairly. In addition they also have Klien hand-drivers which are also useful

Up here in Canada they are used in pretty much everything, wood screws deck screws teck screws machine screws some bolts everything electrical. Deffinatly my favorite

It is the national screwdriver of Canada. Canadian customs take apart every mechanical item that crosses their border and replaces the fasteners with Robertson heads.

I'm told you get a free driver after every 10 bowls of soup at Tim Horton's.

Just about every screw found in Electrical has a square drive, flat head combo. Outlets, Switches, Breakers, box screws, I love square drive, way better than philips. One thing I've looked for is Snap on Square drive bits, haven't seen them yet?

I'd say the handles may be imported but the shafts are exactly the same as the ones I bought twenty years ago.Nothing fits a Robertson screw like a Robertson driver!The only screwdriver/screw combination that you can put the screw on the driver and it doesn't fall off,even upside down!

i work on appliances ,and frigidaire uses robertson bit screws almost exclusively..

Twelve bits for under ten bucks is a very good deal. If I can find a source for the drivers, I'll post a link.

I know HD and Lowe's sell the tips #2 an #3 They are becoming the screw head of choice for deck screws. They have been using them in Canada for over 35 years that I know of. As always we are a little slow making a change.

Robertson's have been around for like 100 years. For deck screws and that sort of thing I've wondered how anything else could be used for so long - Robertson are so much more resistant to cam-out than Phillips, must be a pain if you use wood screws with Phillips heads.

Wow! When my power was off, I dug out my old Primus backpacking stove to heat some water, but the pressure relief valve was leaking a little after it heated up. In order to take it apart I needed a little square driver, which I didn't think I had. When I read about some deck screws having this type of drive I suddenly realized that I had some of those and they came with one of the driver bits. I hunted them up and amazingly enough the bit was the one that I needed for the stove that I bought in the 1960's! Serendipity! Really!

Wera's square-recess bits, like their hex bits, are the hex-plus type, or in this case, "square-plus".

I've seen them used for deck screws alot lately, and also used as the mounting screws for the power window motor on a 93 Lincoln Towncar (never thought I'd have to hit up the carpentry cabinet to fix a car LOL)

Yep everything inside my breaker box is square drive. I have 2 cheapos that my wife got me in one of those 90 packs of tools from Homedespot a few years ago for fathers day. Not only are they getting a bit rounded, but I've since upgraded to all Snap On and PB Swiss drivers, so I'd like to get some better. And maybe move these Husky brand ones to the truck toolbox.
