Squared or dog-ear pickets in enclosed framed gate?

I'm replacing the wooden slats in my gate with composite pickets. They come dog-eared. Should I cut them square? Does the dog ear look out of place in the square framed gate with the triangle gaps at the top corners? I want to go with what is most traditional. Composite dog ear on left in picture. (duh)

If the dog ear was above the top rail, fine. Below...square it off

I cut mine square. The composite that I used (Trex) looks good as the day I installed it four years ago. Remember the composite pickets will swell in width and length with seasonal moisture, so leave a gap at top, bottom and sides

I agree with the square, but it might look ok with dogeared if you had a space at the top of the picket and frame

I'm a go-with-the-flow kinda guy. So I tend towards traditional thinking.

If you dog ear them I'd do the top and bottom, but a stained square will look really good.

Dog ear might also add a little design statement to the gate.

Square, dog eared would look like you recycled some old fence boards. Nothing wrong with recycling but even old dog eared fence boards squared up would look good.
