How's it going everyone, first post here so I'll introduce myself. My name is Austin from Brandon Fl. Found this forum through a guy on one of the car forums I frequent, I think he goes by "hella fab" on this forum. I spend most of my time in the garage working on my Miata and friends cars. I do enjoy building/ fixing stuff and learning how to do new things.

On to the garage. It's a 1 car garage in my apartment complex so I haven't been able to go crazy with the garage but it gets the job done... For now.

Nothing crazy just a tool box, some storage shelves, and a very cheap work table. Unfortunately I have to store some of my other stuff in the garage that just doesn't fit in our small apartment

Snagged this harbor freight tool box used for $50 a while ago. And it worked out great until I started "collecting" more tools now it's just about stuffed with tools and needs to be retired.

I look forward to spending some time here and meeting more of you guys. If you have any suggestions on how to make my little garage nicer, please feel free to tell me.

Nice to see you posting here. Best advice I've seen, which unfortunately I haven't followed, is to clean up after every use and put stuff away when done. Next would be to not allow your space to become a drop off for stuff that really doesn't belong in a garage/work area. A neat space makes it more enjoyable to be in, so you will want to spend more time there.

Do you own the home, or rent? Also, are you permitted to park a vehicle in the stall in front of the garage?

Unfortunately I have to store a lot of this stuff in my garage since there is no where else it could go. But it's all mine anyways, model cars, car audio parts, hockey gear, grill, etc.

And over the past few months I've been trying my best to return everything where it goes and clean up after every job. Even had to get on some friends cases for leaving tools and trash around after they were done and gone. Nothing more frustrating than cleaning up someone else's mess they left in your garage.

I am renting the place so that really limits me on modifications to the garage. I can park a car in front of the garage. I usually park my week day car parked out there and my weekend Miata parked in the garage then just pull it out into that spot when working on something other than the car.

Renting does limit you, unfortunately. But, there's nothing wrong with finding some solid storage solutions since they can move with you, when that day comes. I'm quite partial to the Craftsman MD line of cabinets.

OH NO!! not retired. Added too,expanded, buy it's twin, anything to expand storage. But don't retire it.

Single garages will force out the creativity of their owners/renters. The key is getting things off the ground and ideally maximizing the end wall floor to ceiling. Those principles helped my space to be functional and still esthetically pleasing.

I guess that was a poor choice of words. It will definitely stay but as more of storage for tools I don't use as often.
