What are you using these connectors for ???. There are better alternatives if they are not for use in the entertainment / film industry & even if they are there are a lot of safer types of connectors EG 3 pin joy , Twist lock , Cam lock , Edison , all in various I/E rates 35 year tv/perf arts/film tech

As with many connectors, these are a legacy standard. Many applications today use twistlock connectors since they are a positive lock and can't be removed by an errant batton or a piece of stage scenery. Unless you are looking to mate with existing pin connectors then I'd use twistlocks in the appropriate voltage and current rating.

The Bates connector you listed is more of a consumer grade product compared to the Group 5 stuff which handles a lot more amperage and is built a lot better. Even the entertainment industry (except for theatrical lighting) is moving away from stagepin and to twist lock alternatives. The last time I messed with socapex is was twistlock males and stagepin females on the breakouts because the fixtures were cross rented from a theatrical supplier and hadn't been converted to twist lock.
