Hi Guys, here is my work so far I still have a lot to do. A little info about the house it was factory built the first picture is the house outside the factory ready to be moved the second is on its foundation. I had to work that day and could not get transport photos :( We moved in, in March so my first goal was to just get everything some what sorted. I built a bench and shelving out of scrap lumber from the house that was being built beside me. Over the past year I built a loft in one bay, painted and moved some junk around I didn't take any pictures though:headscrat

In the last month I have painted the stem walls and epoxied the floor built a new bench and added a wall storage system. I still have to put up some lights and install the garage door openers.

how is the build quality on that house? is it like a real house? i've seen some manufactured homes around here, and they are pretty crappy. you can definitely tell that it wasn't a regular house.

Definitley a regular house some where factory built others where built on site. You cannot tell which is which. I perfer my factory build as it wasn't out in the elements during construction. Instead of me yapping here are a few pics from when we first moved in.

Cracks are not uncommon in the first couple of years as the house settles. I kind of went nuts with the crack filler the most of them are hairline. They built the factory just to build homes for one subdivision 5500 homes. This video will probably help.

That is amazing. We don't have that here at all.

It really weird to think they have factory to make homes but you house is awesome. The staggered garage works. How do you feel about that?

I've heard that for the most part (with some exceptions obviously) the end product is actually better quality, and that because they have to transport it, they have to build it a little stronger than normal.

What is the foundation like? Is it a full Basement?

Poured foundation full basement. I have heard they build them stronger as well but cannot see where this was done. They use to come out of the factory turn key but they had some problems. My house was one of the later ones to come out of the factory it was dry walled and the stairs where installed the rest of the interior was done on site.

Gorgeous house.... I would gladly have a prefab house rather than having the cheapest labor work on it. On my house, the painter was so cheap that the builder quality paint was diluted with water!

We definately don't have anything like that here in Texas. Looks really nice--I like the staggered garage!

you also dont have winter in texas... One of the big reasons they tried this was to be able to keep up new home production production during the cold and snowy canadian winters, and keep the closing dates on new homes reasonable. The contolled climate in the factory allows them to maintain production all year long, dispite the weather. This also keeps the trades working steady too.

Makes a lot of sense. They sort of have winter up in Amarillo but they don't have Canadian winter. I go to Canada a lot but definately try to avoid the winters--they can be brutal.
