I'm considering ripping out ALL the carpet in my whole entire house and staining EVERY FREAKIN BIT OF IT! :shocking:

So... those of you that have ever done it, post your pics and your process. I know there is prep work, i'm just trying to get this done right the first time. Any pitfalls? Anything to watch out for? Do I need to get the concrete tested for moisture?

I'm starting with the garage btw. It will be the practice room before I do the rest of the house.

TIA!

I am not an expert on the stain thing but from the people that I talk with that are these are the concerns.

Most likely the concrete under you carpet has glue, plaster, paint, and little nail holes from holding downthe tack strips. In order to make the stain look good all that needs to be fixed first. Patching will be visible. I think the only way to make it look good is to put a float coat on it and starta fresh.

When building a new place one must specifiy it will be stained in order for the crews not to mess it up.

Just my 02 worth(less)

Well thats more like $20 worth, compared to what I know. I wondered about the patching. I'm going to look into it some more, the garage floor is the one i'm starting with, it will be the hardest.
