I am currently fabricating a custom set of headers for my car. I have been thinking of duplicating my mild steel mockup in stainless. I have read about this paste called "Solar Flux" that one can paint on the inside of the tube prior to welding. Apparently this creates a good purge inside the tube that will pass X-ray tests (according to the manufacturer).
Any experience with this stuff? I also read of a novel idea of using masking tape on the inside, which apparently shields the weld (and burns off) as a poor mans purge.
Here is the site for the "Solar Flux": www.solarflux.com
