Knowing how much Jeff likes a old thread brought back to life, I'll point out that they are still selling these outrageously expensive stainless steel tools.
Does anyone actually buy these?
The rebuild kits for the ratchets go for $115 to $160!
I was going to pickup a $404 thumbwheel ratchet but they only offer it in a 3/8" drive and I really wanted one in 1/2" drive.
Got another company out of Taiwan that's marketing a bunch of stainless steel tools in both full polish and matte finish.

I was going to get SS, but figured I'd go all the way and get Titanium...just in case I need to wrench on an MRI Machine or something. You never know....and it was only $1,420. Sockets are only $1-400 each.

The Steritools are designed for pharmaceutical type applications. Clean room / sterile manufacturing requires very careful cleaning and sterilization of anything going into the sterile areas. Steam autoclaves, very aggressive cleaning solutions and irradiation are used to ensure sterility. Crevices and rough textures are avoided to limit areas for contaminants to reside.
If you look at the specs of their tools, the materials including lubricants are very specific. Everything has to be tested and documented (validation) to ensure that it meets the sterility standards set.
They are not designed for a tool enthusiast. Very expensive and primative in many respects. If you're concerned about ratchet tooth count or the merits of the various lubricants, these tools would be a disappointment. I've spent well over $10,000 for their tools for a sterile pharma company. Never had the desire to own any of them.
Food industries are less stringent, but still under the watchful eye of the FDA and others.
