Stainless Steel Toolboxes who makes 'em?

Kennedy has some 304 stainless steel toolboxes listed in their catalog.

Couldn't find anything in Waterloo or Snap On for all SS boxes

Any other manufacturers, USA, North America, European or Taiwan? I know sears has chinese made available but really prefer not to spend my money that way.

I'm pretty sure the Craftsman ones are made by Waterloo and are COO Mexico. Waterloo offers them as well directly under their name. I think Lista or Vidmar makes a stainless one, but be seated when you look at the price.

Sears ones may come through Waterloo, but they are chicom made

Same with stainless from Lowes and Home Despot.

I've researched those sources and I'll bet, at the price point they're offered at, the Costco ones are chinese too.

The Kennedy boxes are touted for clean rooms, so I suppose there are others that will make similar products. I visited the Lista website but couldn't find a stainless configuration.

The boxes from Costco and the like tend to rust, even when stored in a nice, well sealed garage. I know of one right now that's rusted all to hell on top, and it's not an isolated scenario.

If you are after something stainless for actual corrosion prevention, they are best avoided.

I know it's a heck of a pain, but there are powder coats that look strikingly similar to stainless if you're just after the look. I wouldn't strip a new box, but picking up something from Craigslist that's a bit worn is a good candidate.

As an added bonus, you can get something nice like a Snap On for a good deal, because you're after one that needs refinishing. So long as you pull the thing apart and clean most of the **** off, powder coating is actually pretty cheap.

The Gladiator units aren't really for professional use, but they look stainless enough, are better than other options, and won't corrode easily.

KTC make one. Not a huge range, in fact just the one box as I recall, a cantilever tool box. Looked quite nice though, and would be made in Japan I imagine!

I know Viper Tool Storage has stainless steel but they are made in China I'm pretty sure.

Careful with craftsman. The placard on the display doesnt mention a word about stainless and it appears to be just a brushed metal with some type of clear coat. Also very magnetic.

Certain grades of stainless do rust. If made of 304 it won't rust.

My stainless 40" set is Craftsman and it's made in Taiwan.

Not true stainless because magnets stick to it. No rust after 4-5 years.

Item numbers 10595 and 10600. (I think those are the numbers)

I have magnets for labels so not being true stainless doesn't bother me.
