Stamped Patio.

I am currently building a new home and had the back patio stamped and color stained. Thought I would share some pictures of the process. The pad is 26'X8'X6". I used #4 rebar on two foot centers. The two foot sonotube acts as a footing for the posts that will support the roof above.
View media item 64431This picture shows the area ready to pour. Gravel was backed filled around the over dig to prevent settling.

View media item 64433This is the first stamp being applied. A clear release was applied to the stamps and the concrete.

View media item 64436And this is the pad after it was stamped. The wet spots are the remaining release that was applied.
View media item 64437The next morning we saw cut control joints and washed the slab. After drying we applied the color. I used a black antiquing release mixed with mineral spirits.

I like the way the stamped concrete looks too. I had debated about having it done for my driveway and sidewalk when I had it poured, but finally decided not to do it. Now I kind of wish I had done it.

Looks great. Stamping is definitely coming back after few years. Very delicate process and easy to mess up if you are not on top of it at all times.
