Stand-Alone Home Security, not Monitored

I have a monitored system but rarely use it. The security company does call when the power goes out etc. But, in my area the police no longer respond to any residential alarm calls. Costs them too much time/money. I wouldn't be surprised if many areas are doing the same thing. Just something to consider.

Wires? What wires? I installed a Simplisafe system 3 yrs ago and am quite satisfied. It's all wireless except the main box does need 120V. I got out the floor plans for the house, read through the details of how each sensor worked and decided what sensors I wanted and where to put them. Each sensor attaches to the wall w/ 'Command' tape or screws. No monitoring if you don't want it or there are levels. mine is $25/month. I get a text every time the system is turned on or off or if an alarm sounds. I also get a call if the alarm sounds and I can decide if I want them to call the police or not.

Only one note of caution with Simplisafe is that the basestation is limited to connecting 41 "things" to it. The things include entry sensors, motion sensors, keypads, etc. Keep this in mind when designing your system. I made mine work, but I'm waiting for a label from them to return a few "things" that would exceed the 41.

Otherwise, it was easy to install and operate. It has a cellular device to call the alarm center. The $24 per month gets you the phone app & system dashboard (via their website) with no contract.
