I am a pretty simplistic person looking for a simple and practical stand for a Two Wheel 8" Bench Grinder. The knowledge base out here always amazes me. Wood or metal makes no difference.
Thanks for your help.

The one on the left with the green vise is not finished yet but will have a 2" reciever welded in a top plate to accept various tools. So it will serve as a universal stand. I have since replaced the Chicom Wilton on the right with a 4" Wilton Bullet. Both have kick back wheels to move them around. Each stand weights about 150lbs and I haven't filled the bases with concrete yet. Some people will weld a post to a wheel with a tire mounted on it to reduce vibration. The idea seems cool but also very Getto to me.

A car rim, some exhaust tubing,a piece of flat steel and a welder. Basically Fyrme's but a lot lighter. That's how I did mine. It's heavy enough that it doesn't move around but light enough I can move it to where I need it and store it in a corner.

Simple you say?

How about 4x4 in a bucket of QUIKRETE® with 3/4" plywood 'plate' cut to the size of the grinder? Portable, yet stable.

Go buy a bottom box. Look for one on CL that is the right height and bolt the grinder to it.
Use the drawers for storage or sanding and grinding materials

When you get a second grinder then turn the sideways placed back to back

I am pretty simplistic too. Here is my "dual purpose" vice and grinder stand.

There is a 5 gallon bucket of concrete anchoring the wood base. IT is heavy and hard to move.

Two pipe flanges, a piece of threaded pipe, & a metal plate. The plate has holes for several different tools.

What I used iw a flat piece of 1/4 steel for the grinders to mount to. I also bought two of those flanges that allow and has a threaded opening in the center which you can screw pipe into. They come in various sizes.
I welded one to the plate and then used 3 ft. of 2 inch pipe for the stand. The pipe was screwed to the other of those flanges which I then welded to an old brake rotor for the base.
Welding steel to cast iron is a little tricky but I made it work. I then added more old rotors over the pipe before I mounted the flat plate. The plate is large enough that I have two grinders mounted on the plate. One has grinding wheels, one aluminum oxide for steel and the other for grinding my carbide lathe tool bits and my tig electrodes. The other grinder has one wire wheel and the a non-metallic abrasive wheel.
