I have a frigidaire stand up freezer. Someone left the door open over night. I have since been able to get the freezer on and keep it running but the timer on the back times out after 8-12 hours or so. The temperature alarm stays on with the light. I turned the alarm sound off but the light is still on. Is this thing toast or what? I mean it's plenty cold in there now and stuff is frozen but I have to keep the timer going and the alarm sound still goes off when I turn it on.

Here's the manual and it doesn't even cover the timer thing in the back

The timer is the defrost timer and if the door was left open the coils are probably so covered with ice that the defrost cycle will not melt it all out. Empty freezer, turn off, remove shelves and lower cover over the coils in the back and defrost with heat gun or wife's hair dryer. There will be probably a gallon of defrost water to get up with towels etc. Put everything back together and turn it back on, give it 24 hours to get everything back to temp.
