Standard/Blue Streak Cabinet Info

Does anyone know where these would have come from, by which I mean who would have made them? "Standard" is a parts company, right? What is "Blue Streak?"

Any idea on vintage?

I remember them as being an independent supplier of ignition stuff, switches, etc.

You could be supplied with tune up parts for any popular system, be it made by Delco-Remy or Autolite.

Echlin is in the same market.

Standard Auto Parts is an old line name brand auto electrics company from Long Island.

I can't say about their domestic production these days, but Blue Streak is their line of Premium parts. Normal line is in red boxes.

Some years ago they came out with a popular-priced line in green boxes.

Honked me off because I ordered a bunch of parts at a NAPA and specifically asked for Standard parts. When I picked them up, he handed me that green c**p. I protested, and the response was, we've had good experience with them; we don't get returns.

If I'd wanted that level of parts, I'd have gone to AutoZone.

I wonder if the cabinets would be stamped somewhere regarding who made them?

Any idea what vintage these would be, or is there no way of telling?

Vintage...From memory, 70's, maybe even late 70's early 80's. They are a lot newer than the ones I used to have at North Rockland Amoco which were from the 60's. I'm sure there must be a stamping which might date them but I don't know where it would be found.

I can deal with 70s or 80s...I was hoping they would at least be older than the 90s, which would be kind of new and less cool!

I'd put them in the 80's to 90's range.Napa tried to get us to take some of those full of stock on consignment in the late 80's,early 90's.I have a couple older ones in my garage form the 60's or 70's.They have the fake woodgrain doors.
