Hi guys,

I got a line on a couple Lista storage cabinets for a decent price. I am curious what you think about the drawer configuration. It will mostly be holding hand tools and precision measuring tools.

The configuration is 59"(height)x28.5"(width)x28.5"(depth)

The drawer layout is as follows: 15 total drawers

7 x 2"
7 x 3"
1 x 4"

I am looking at getting two cabinets. These will be for a home shop setup.

What do you think?

For what you want to put in it, it sounds like a good variation. I would prefer a couple of 6 or 8 inch on the bottom, but that is me.

Thanks Strouty,

I agree. I have some lathe chucks and other tooling as well as power tools that would fit nicely in some larger drawers at the bottom. I am wondering if I can I buy drawers individually from Lista and change configurations?

I find deep drawers are most of the time a waste in a well built box. IMHO. The reason is, anything I put in them, that is big and bulky, just ***** up expensive real estate. I keep all my big bulky stuff in more cost effective cabinets, drawers, etc.

Just my 2 pennies. I like the config that you have a line on.

I am pretty sure you could buy almost any drawer size from them, but it may cost a small fortune. I would make a small cabinet under or beside the lathe to store related equipment.

Curious what round-a-bout price you're investing in the 2 Listas?

Can you show pics and indicate whether new or used?

If the price is right, buy them. Inspect the drawer carriages closely. The bearings and carriages are no longer available, but can be retrofitted with a hybrid system that Lista has available. If you just need a couple of new drawers, it may still be worth it.

That configuration is used mostly for small parts or small tooling. In my own shop I use quite a few smaller sized drawers for my tools including sockets, wrenches, etc. I just lay things down and partition and divider things up to make order out of the space.

The trick to effectively using small drawers is use various configurtions of the partitions, dividers, and plastic boxes. You would be surprised how much you will like that cabinet once you organize it.

Your SC cabinet is 24" x 24" on the inside, so the partitions can be installed front to back or left to right. You can fit 64 3x3x2 plastic boxes in a single drawer.

Good luck,
Joe

If the price is right, those sound awesome.

I've got a bunch of different sizes. I would hate to go back to a conventional tool box.
