My local electrical supply house will cut any wire to any length needed at a per foot price.
AND
Their prices on UF beat the big box stores by alot.
It doesn't matter if you are buying 143' or a standard 250' roll. The per foot price is the same.

Check around your area for a supply house. I doubt you'll be sorry.

Is the 143 feet of 10/3 one circuit? If it is and you are expecting 30A @ 240V you need to consider the voltage drop.

Had not thought of that. Thanks. I am just replacing what was there before the new septic tank line installation broke the old 10-3 cable. The largest motor on that circuit is a 1/2 horse 220 irrigation pump. Also, on that circuit is 4 fluorescent fixtures and a couple of 110 receptacles.

On a second thought I might should spend a few more $ and go with #8......

Or, since you have to dig it up to replace the UF, maybe it would be better to run conduit and individual wires, so you wouldn't have to redig the whole thing if it ever got hit again in the future.

Good advice here.
