Saw a post here a while back about standing seam panels (from Menards IIRC) and it caught my eye.

Looking for similar material, off the shelf standing seam panels, in the eastern US and it just doesn't appear to be a thing...

Got a quote yesterday, just over a hundred bucks (looking at a small 3x14' roof as a trial) but shipping was over $650.

Anyone have a source in the North East or know someone who ships for a reasonable charge?

They roll it here in Maine (Everlast). Probably a couple of hours ride east for you. There's a Hancock lumber in Conway NH that deals with them but check around with your local "yards" first.
It's not super heavy but in my estimation it's the crating/packaging that adds to the cost of shipping.

Thanks, plenty of expert with Hancock and Hammond. Local yards here can custom order ribbed and (I assume) standing seem too.

Hoping for off the shelf

I'd call around to some local roofers and see who their supplier is. Typically they are made either on site or at a local shop.

I haven't seen anyone that uses the "click loc" for professional installation.

I can get the panels rolled. Not sure I want to do that...

Here's and example of what I'm looking at:

Reasonable or not, I'm not paying that much freight on $150

Do you have access to a trim brake? For a small roof like that why not go old school and bend your own true standing seam panels from a roll of metal.

Again, I know how to have a roofer show up with coil stock and the machine to roll panels.

Not what I'm looking for

Maybe one of the independent shippers that subscribe to YOUSHIP or similar load boards could do this for a reasonable rate. Volume will be small. 10 3' pieces??
Menards will cut to length which is a nice feature. My shop ceiling is their steel panels, didn't have to do any cutting.
Two Menards stores near me, I could perhaps help you with logistics.

Most local real lumber yards will have a supplier for metal roofing and components. There are a lot of parts and pieces to order for a complete installation. Hopefully the supplier can help you order everything you need. The material will come on a route truck to the lumber yard and there may be a minor freight charge or none at all. You can have the lumber yard deliver or pick it up yourself.

No kidding...

It's like I've never been to the yard to order materials, or roofing. Why didn't I think of that!

Could it be they don't have what I'm asking for in the OP?

If you’ve already established that no one in your area sells the stuff you’re looking for, and you don’t want someone to bend it on site, what are you expecting to get from a post on a national message board?

Seemed pretty clear to me:

Anyone have a source in the North East or know someone who ships for a reasonable charge?

I recall talking to a guy who had Harvey Building materials produce all the metal roofing parts for his new construction house and sold him everything he needed to do it himself. They came out, took measurements and provided him everything ready to go. He told me that things went very smooth and he was happy. Not sure if you have one near you or not.

I bought mine from a lumber place in plastow NH and it comes from Everlast. I don't believe i paid shipping to the lumber yard. Had them deliver for 50 bucks on their flat bed. Must have several in VT. Give them a call.
Standing seam is usually 2x what normal stuff is......at least. OP have you seen the new kind that you hammer together? No crimping of seams needed.

There are two versions of snap lok. One uses clips, the other has oval holes punched in the concealed flange. I would recommend the clips because of expansion and contraction. With the punched holes the screws tend to get driven down to tight defeating the expansion/contraction feature.

I've been looking at the one with the clips.

I thought the flanged one was called something different, but I could be wrong.

Thought I found a local source but no response yet, and it was a FB post so no business name...

Well I'll give an update....

Talked this morning with supposedly one of the larger suppliers in Southern VT, he only deals in standard 29 gage R-panel.

Was in the fence about buying a couple sheets of 26 gage at the yard this morning and making 2 cuts, but for talking to a different service rep and turns out they not only order the click lock I am looking for, he also has years of experience installing it before he took the sales position.

Going to get him some measurements (on a few things actually) and Monday he will work up the quote.

TL; DR got bad info months ago, regional yards gets it no problem

Im researching a DIY standing seam install currently, this reflects what ive found so far. No real "off the shelf" suppliers other then online w/ large shipping cost and limited lengths

However every region has a metal coil mfg/distributor with numerous direct to customer sales points ie lumber yards and such

My current pricing- $3.80/lf of Reynolds 16" x 24g basic color delivered for free and cut to any length i spec. Now im working out all the accessory pieces, underlayment's, hardware, etc...

Nice little bonus, most roofing quotes will come with a breakdown of brands, materials, and install procedure

Funny, that's the same brand name, but through a different mfg, I'm waiting on a quote from

Still waiting on the damn quote...

Counter guy told me yesterday at 10am he heard back from the supplier, but he has to leave for a family issue and couldn't get to it.

Well I stopped in yesterday to grab something just before closing, guess who was sitting there. Not sure if he worked today or not, was out doing something and couldn't swing in before they closed at 1pm, but didn't see anything on my email.
