Staning Concrete Steps and Porch

We moved into our house almost a year ago and we have a fairly long stairway to our front porch.

The concrete is chipping off of some of the steps and I was wondering if I can just scrape away the loose bits, power wash the steps and porch, and stain it.

Or do I need to do more to get the stain to take?

Also what kind of stain would you recommend?

Howdy. As long as the concrete is clean, porous and dry, it can be stained.
Our product is called DeltaDye® Concrete Stain, it should be sealed post staining.
