A few years ago i bought a craftsman USA made 162 piece mechanics set that stayed in my truck as my road box. I added a few things to it like a screwdriver set and some pliers. Recently i put that set in a 4 drawer toolbox and that is my work set now so for now i'm looking for a new truck set. The price on that Stanley set seems to good to pass up. I would go craftsman again if i could find a U.S.A set which i've looked long and hard for. For the price that stanley set seems to fit the bill and for that price i could even add to it. Does anyone have any experience with this set. Thanks
Jeff

Sears stuff is so cheap so what if its from China. They have modern steel mills, its as good or better than the stuff I bought in the 80's at half the cost, almost disposable pricing. Whats not good about that?
I was tempted to buy a new 9 Klien, 33$

I have a stanley set that is my go to socket set. standard and metric sockets and some bits. They are my favorite sockets. Its better than the Chinese/ HF ****. The only 3/8 to 1/4 adapter that has survived is the stanley one. The HF/ other socket sets have all torn off the 1/4 part.

Find one of those black nickel sets (stanley or husky) with taiwan origin. I think they're rebrands, whoever the mfg was they did good work and on the cheap. Can't vouch for the ratchets in those sets but the sockets are great; I have the performance tool ones use them all the time (assume stanley/husky are the same, they look the same/same coo).

Another vote for Stanley. Last night I greased my Stanley 1/4" drive ratchet. I've used and occasionally abused it for probably 10 years now and it still works fine. It feels better than any domestic Craftsman ratchet I've tried in the past ten years.

I like the testimony about how well they really work. The cliché that it is all junk is totally factually incorrect. Look how many that have them many years. In the grand scheme of things there is enough stuff to take an engine out of a car for not much more than lunch money.

All my chrome sockets are craftsman. Theres nothing nothing that makes the stand out from Stanley. As long as they're 6pt and guaranteed for life, go for it. My only hangup would be how smooth the socket wrench ratchets. A friend of mine uses husky and they seem to be just the same too. Walmarts inbred cousin harbor freight should be thrown out of North America.

I'm just here to steal.

A former student of mine works at a BMW repair shop. All his wrenches, sockets and ratchets are Stanley that he bought 6 or 7 years ago. He told me some of the techs make fun of his cheap tools, but he didn't seem to care as he said they work and didn't cost him a fortune,
