It doesn't look like there are a lot of threads on here devoted exclusively to miter boxes and I've only ever seen a handful of weirdos (like myself) who collect (hoard) them. The saws themselves seem to be worth more money than the frames, but I notice on eBay that the spare parts for these are pretty expensive so someone is putting them back together. I have a 2244 (4x24) from the SW era that I pieced together out of several saws, and a minty Langdon Acme with patent dates on it, but I just picked this guy up off of FB and it's without a doubt the cleanest miter saw I've ever seen from any period. As near as I can place it, it'd be after the "SW" era, but before Atkins moved out of Indianapolis, so I'm guessing somewhere between ww2 and the early 50's. It's 99% complete except for one of the rods for the stock stop assembly, but everything else is there. I have to imagine that some one bought this after ww2 right when electric tools were being popularized and they stashed it somewhere moisture couldn't get at it. I should have blown it off with an air gun, but I wasn't as impressed with it until I actually used it on a small project for the wife. I'm still on the lookout for a Stanley 460 simply for the sheer size but I doubt very much I'll find one as clean as this 358. I think that the saw handle, while comfortable is newer than the earlier, more ornate and ergonomic handles, but otherwise, this would be right before Stanley started cutting corners to lower the cost (steel legs, stamped stock guides, etc).
