yea i just saw it on slickdeals, one of the reviewers said they received a used set. Maybe they got a returned item, who knows. Still looks like a decent set and hard case.

Had to dig real deep in Q&A to get these details:

a) This is "Max Drive" design (thus NOT normal 6 pt or 12 pt)
b) Made in CHINA
c) 3/8 SAE 7 sockets 3/8" - 3/4"
3/8 Metric 8 Sockets 9mm - 17 mm
1/4 SAE 11 Sockets 5/32" - 9/16" Metric
1/4 Metric 11 Sockets 4mm - 14 mm
8 Star Bits TX 8 to TX 40
Sparkplug Socket
2 Extender arms
Converter 1/4 = 3/8 as well as the ratchet itself
50 Pieces in all

Anyone actually use "Max Drive" sockets by Stanley to know if these are any good and worth buying??

Tried the Promo codes, and only the 2nd one with EMCYTZT4739 works for $15 off which nets to $24.99 with free shipping.

I have a set of the Stanley black chrome sockets that I bought a while back on some kind of closeout deal. I don't particularly like the black finish but, hey!, if the price is right...
No problems/complaints so far. The ratchets work better than I expected.

Wal-Mart currently has a 123 piece black chrome socket set for 49.99 plus tax, if anyone is still interested in a set-up like this.

They (max drive) look like some sort of rounded 12 point socket. I don't touch 12 point. If you use 12 point they might be worth a shot but I doubt it.

I think stanley used to have those black nickel sockets (6 point) from taiwan that performance tool had. I have a set of those. Those are actually awesome sockets. I paid like 15 bucks for that set with a composite ratchet and it's my go to.

Those black sockets are badassed looking until you lose one down in a greasy engine bay somewhere. I'll never get back those 15 minutes of hunting. Never.
