I had posted this in the garage sale section but Ill repost it here. I have a Stanley 624-A hand drill. I contacted Stanley and they said they had no information on the 624-A only on the 624 They said it was made between 1924 and 1983. Now the box that came with it has a zip code on the label so that would put it after 1962 ( When zip codes were introduced ) so that would be between 1962 and 1983. My question is, is there any way to narrow the production date down.

I can't help much but I have to think that would have been toward the later years of production just by it's looks and box label. You may want to post at a wood working forum that has a hand tool subforum. I'd look at the drill points and see if they're spiral or straight flutes as that may help in dating production.
