I don't know what happened to Stanley, back in the day they put out fantastic tools, I think maybe in their minds corporate liked the idea of outsourcing to China, in order to cut their costs and appease their shareholders.

I don't know about the ants' part, but I would agree with the Morons part but add the title Greedy Morons.

By ants, do you mean morons?

yes, I live in the UK. their products including the lower brands like Stanley are far superior to almost all the domestic ones they offer. Im baffled by this, I look at Facom/USAG/Expert/Stanley Fatmax and almost all those have fantastic product lines. The best they can do stateside is some facom rebrands under Craftsman, I feel like they are leaving so much money under the table.

I'm not sure I see these horrible tools. I mean I don't think B&D is a "good" brand anymore. They are a budget brand delivering a budget tool at a budget price. DeWalt isn't and they don't deliver budget quality either.

Stanley Tools sells to whatever market what they think that market will buy.
There are tool dealers that specifically import higher end Stanley Tools from overseas.
Before companies like Lie Nielsen started making hand planes, Stanley and Record planes were the best option, and supposedly the Stanley planes that better retailers carried were really meant for sale in the UK and maybe other parts of Europe.

Don't get me wrong, I have bought a lot of Expert tool sets from our MAC dealer and they have been nothing but fantastic. Some of the MAC stuff is made overseas, and it also seems to be of good quality. Both brands are owned by Stanley.

I honestly don't understand or agree with what they're doing with the Craftsman brand. There have been many missed opportunities to make it something truly great that resonates with people. They've done a terrible job with product development and marketing. They use the cheapest tool lines they have to churn out that garbage and slap the Craftsman name on it. It's junk, plain and simple.

The Proto tools we buy at work seem solid.

I can't complain about my DeWalt power tools, they have been just as good as the Milwaukees at work.

Most of the Stanley branded tools I buy do the job.

Can't complain about my Mac tools

I would happily take some new LISTA or vidmar cabinets.

My Bostitch pneumatic guns keep on ticking.

What am I missing that they sell overseas?

I can’t figure out what tool is the problem? They seem to offer competitive, if not arguably best of class over an enormous broad range. Scanners I guess, but that’s a pretty niche market.

I just noticed the quality difference between both markets. In Europe in my opinion stanley b&d offers more quality at cheaper prices. I'll give one example, Stanley offers a complete set under the fatmax brand of anti-slip wrenches from 8 to 19mm and more sizes all under 40ish $. Made in Taiwan. Screwdrivers ext all priced well.

They can't even give craftsman a complete set of the same wrenches, same with dewalt. I can get made in France plier sets all under 50$. Maybe Europe demands better quality?
