Makes sense with the Walmart branded Hart tools being rolled out.
What are the hidden gems in the Walmart line of Stanley Black and Decker?
Not a heck of a lot. I worked at Wal-Mart when I was in college, they cleared out the better stuff way back in the early 2000s. In fact they got Chinese Stanley stuff vs. Taiwan a lot sooner almost as if it were a test for mass marketing it. It was not great stuff. The best you could say is it was better than the a Test Rite Products junk (they’re the source of Hyper Tough) because management was cheap and wouldn’t let the auto dept and bike assemblers store use the Stanley. Bike Assemblers brought their own tools, the few times I helped them out I used my own as well. The Stanley stuff held up moderately better than the Test Rite stuff.
Wal-Mart’s good stuff was when they’d have competing stuff in auto like Ingersoll impact sockets or Allied Pro tool sets. They seemed to do that for auto customers that wouldn’t wander over to hardware. That stuff was changed up constantly on the auto side I forget all the brands they tried. Around the time I left they were clearing out the Campbell Hausfeld impact stuff.
I’d personally wait for 2nd or 3rd markdowns on any of it. Much of it is specially sourced just for Wal-Mart, and it may not be the same quality even if it appears to be the same exact thing being sold elsewhere.
