Stanley combo wrenches? 14 piece satin finish

Anybody have this set? How do they compare to real Protos, or or they more along the lines of the standard poorly finished Chinese wrenches?

All the way up to 1 1/4 for $60 sounds like it might be worth a try...

Probably import. The proto site usually indicates if the tools are of domestic manufacture.

I would avoid the Chinese Stanley wrenches you see at Walmart

The real Proto stuff made in USA or Taiwan is great.

They look like standard length wrenches that would be shorter than Proto and the Stanleys don't have Proto's antislip open end.

The Stanleys appear just to be no frills basic wrenches that would still get the job done.

I've got a couple sets of Stanley wrenches I inherited. One is high polished chrome with the open end that lets you sort of ratchet, not sure what it's called, the other looks like what you posted, a satin long set of combo's. both sets seem pretty high quality, but since they were just tossed in an extra toolbox, I have honestly never used them. I will say the finish is much better than HF's polished wrenches, on par with the old kobalt or Husky wrenches. The satin ones seem better than craftsman, but thinner and longer.

Really? It matters... You could strip the box end, or part the open end on a box wrench, not just snap the thing, and both of those will make it relatively useless. The quality of steel, and processes for making are extremely important when it comes to tools, which require a certain degree of hardness to be properly useful.

Snapping a wrench in half is not a big deal, but the open end spreading is! Many cheap wrenches have open ends like cheese.

The good news.... BOOM, crazy fast response.
The not so good news.... Made in China.

I still might give them a try, but for Chinese wrenches, the Sunex V-Grooves have caught my eye too...

Couldn't find a Stanley that went up to 32 so I had to go with another to continue the kit.
