Made in USA with GLOBAL materials.
That just means assembled here, made elsewhere.
Maybe if enough of us (you not me) are willing
to work for asian wages and if the EPA is made to disappear....?

I read the link...what did i miss...? Which EPA are you talking about..? State EPA, or Federal EPA..? No need for duplicate agencies...They are out of control overlapping , and one of them should disappear. They should have stuck to clean air, and clean water...and not gotten involved in the global warming scam.. Appears that SB&D is headed in the right direction...i will consider that while making future tool purchases..

They still have to qualify for the Made part. It can’t just be someone putting two screws in something. Most likely power tool batteries which iirc can’t be manufactured here at an even remotely competitive price are a big part of “assembled”.

Sorry someone pissed in your wheaties. :(

As far south as you can get and still be in the country. Can't imagine where the components will be coming from.
I guess they might as well just do everything south of the border instead then? Clearly any investment or work in the USA is of no benefit at all.

Careful that's dangerously close to Fender charging 2-3 times as much for USA made instruments made 30 miles from the Mexican factory.

With the fact that SB&D just shelled out a ton of cash for Cman, I'm happy they are bringing jobs to the US.

Happy enough in fact to send the VP of public affairs and email thanking him.

I don't really care where the tool was made. I buy them to work, and my DeWalt sawzall that was made in Mexico works just fine. I don't really see any reason to believe Americans are better than Mexicans at screwing things together, so while I suppose I'm happy enough in the abstract to see a US facility making the tools it's not going to make me any more or less loyal to SBD, or give me any reason to go out and buy new tools when the ones I have work perfectly well.

"Nominal" or not, it's still in the US, which means it still has to abide by all US regulations, so, ultimately, it doesn't matter if it sits right next the border, or if it's in the heartland, it's still a US plant.

Seriously, what's the problem here?

Everyone complains that nobody makes tools in the USA, but then they complain just as much when a company opens a plant in the USA.

People complain about U.S. plants that do nothing more than assemble parts shipped in from overseas. If anything says "with global components", it's mostly foreign manufactured.

I think SBD is somewhat trying though. I know at least one DeWalt plant has a motor winding station. I'd like to see more manufacturing done here to really say the tool is made in the U.S. I'd like the case to be injection molded here, the gearbox made here and the motor made here.

Demanding domestic products from international brands by law in each country is nothing new. Mexico has its own Wal-Mart and Home Depot registered as domestic despite being one and the same with the US entity.

SBD has long established the same as well as car makers. Get over it, global is here to stay and more, it works on a big scale.

Kudos to SBD for making another factory. Anywhere it creates jobs is good for the whole region despite national boundaries being close or far.

While it may not be perfect at least they are trying to do better, they do appear to be making some components here instead of just assembling parts. When it comes to things made in Mexico It may not be perfect but I will take that long before I take something made in China.

The Plant creates jobs. The plant pays property taxes to the local and state government. The employees also pay taxes.

The employees will live and spend their wages in the local community. This will help provide jobs for other Americans.

If you think Mexican and American Fender product is the same... You're just wrong.

The Mexican product is improving and has been for a long time, but still has a looooong way to go to catch up.

They use different machinery and processes in the two plants, different amounts of manual and automated assembly, different amounts of hand finishing. They are not two copies of the same factory cranking out the exact same product.
