Stanley No. 36, 12 inch Level.

Having looked through many catalogs I found what I was looking for in the 1898 catalog a #36 cast iron Stanley Level for a tidy sum of $1.50 for the year 1898.
Checking with an inflation calculator that comes to a sum of $42.86 in todays dollars.

I don't recall how much I paid for it a few short years ago, but I remember where I bought it, funny how the mind works! I thought you might like a few pictures and the 1898 catalog along with a little bit of Stanley History in the following links.

I don't have any Stanleys but i have this vintage Starrett 18" cast iron level i picked up a few years back. Love the old school metal levels. Usually they're hard to find in nice shape.

Woody, it is the Starrett model 132, that they still make new to this day. Mine is the 132-18, which is discontinued. Not sure on age, but my level just says The L.S.S. Co. Athol, MA

great looking level Woody. I have a #37, not in as good of shape though.
