Having looked through many catalogs I found what I was looking for in the 1898 catalog a #36 cast iron Stanley Level for a tidy sum of $1.50 for the year 1898.
Checking with an inflation calculator that comes to a sum of $42.86 in todays dollars.
I don't recall how much I paid for it a few short years ago, but I remember where I bought it, funny how the mind works! I thought you might like a few pictures and the 1898 catalog along with a little bit of Stanley History in the following links.
Just another fun vintage tool for you to keep your eyes open for when tool hunting; they come in 6", 9", 12", 18", & 24" size.
