Hello all, plucked from my late father-in-laws toolbox my bride gleefully chose this small hand drill. She intuitively cranked the handle and observed the counter rotation of the idler gears. She was smitten and asked what it was. I boringly explained how it works while she hung on my every word. Ain’t I a lucky guy? Well, I’m going through the box of stuff we dragged home and I would like to tune it up, get the chuck working or replace it if necessary and a small set of drill bits so she could use it if she wanted.
Anyone know anything about these? I just plan to clean it up so it cranks easier. It’s not immediately obvious how the three jaw chuck works as I think it’s missing some parts. The small drilled hole in the chuck seems to be just that, a small drilled hole. Is that for a wrench with a pin to tighten/ loosen the chuck body from the shaft?
How would you remove the light surface rust without damaging the paint?
Thanks!
