Stark lathe, seems really cheap

I have no real need for a metal lathe and yet I find myself tempted to go check this one out. Not sure if $450 is a good deal assuming it is in good shape (bed ways and so on). Maybe someone close to Rochester will go grab it first and put an end to my temptation.

With all of the extras that come with it, that's not a bad price at all. I would be very much tempted at that price. A good sanding and a nice paint job, polish up what needs polished and you could easily double your price. One thing nice is the built in motor and variable speed.

Be aware that is not an 'engine lathe' saying that the machine you posted has no lead screw or threading capabilities. If you can live with that then it might be a good deal. Be aware also that the carriage is fixed in position while cutting is done by moving the axis on the compound.

Somebody must have bought it. Wasn't me but hopefully it performs well for the buyer.
