Make a wooden box for it after you clean it- it will last another hundred years and if you ever get a lathe or need to set up your own machine tools, you'll be glad you have it.
Starret will replaster the vials if you need it done.

I was at an auction a few years ago and found a level similar to yours. The one I found was a little more ornate and in very good condition. I didn't know anything about them but decided I would like to have it. Not bad enough it seems.....I got out when it hit $100. The other bidder was much like me...just liked the looks of it. I was going to hang it on the wall.

Went home and found one like it on the web.....$100 was not out of the ballpark on its worth to collectors.

Nice looking level!

That 132 level is pretty coarse when compared to a 98 or a 199. The 132 is .080" per ft, the 98 is .005"/ft and the 199 is .0005"/ft. I would not use the 132 for setting up precision machines.

Cleaned up easy. Deburring wheeled the bare iron and WD-40 the rest. There is a large amount of bubble movement compared to my other levels. Should be super accurate.

Way Cool Old Starrett level - but its not a "Machinist Level" per say

I have a 98, a 199, and a few other Starrett "Set Up" levels. The 199 I use to maintain my machines in a level condition, especially my lathe. Surprising - you can come back a couple weeks later and find you need a little fine tuning as the level is so sensitive it will register the seasonal ground swelling taking place under the garage slab.

I have 5 or 6 Starrett levels, including the same one that Alex shows here. This is a little more interesting one, don't see these as often. It's 15" long, and has another vial mounted in an adjustable pointer, with a scale for setting angles.

This level doesn't have the angular resolution necessary to set up precision machinery such as a lathe.

I have one similar, but it is 18", which apparently Starrett no longer makes. I got it for $20 off craigslist, its previous owner was a carpenter.

Mine has smooth black enamel paint, the newer levels have black crinkle paint. I thought it was interesting it says LSS Co. and not the full Starrett name.
