Just picked up a Starrett square head and rule and have yet to receive them. The rule is a Number 4. Comparing this head to others I've seen that appeared similar, it seems to me to be authentic. Just looking at pictures of heads that seemed of this vintage, I've not been able to pick out any maker's marks. Were heads such as these stamped with a Starrett logo somewhere on the head? It could be that other photos I've examined are not of the "genuine article." I probably should've waited until the item was delivered, but I'm getting nervous. Thanks for the help!

That is a Starrett head. I have not seen many that were marked.Seen more protractors and centerfinder heads that are stamped though.

Definitely Starrett.
The separated knurled lock knob is a giveaway.
This is the less expensive cast iron head, as opposed to the forged and hardened steel version.
They made this model for almost a century. Hard to date precisely.

Would you say then this is a No. 11 as opposed to a No. 33? Thanks to all, once again.

Could also be a #12. See pictures below. Originally purchased as a set in about 1915. In the second picture the protractor head is stamped #12

The old catalogs I consulted seem to indicate No. 12 is in reference to the protractor head only, which could've been bought as a set that included a blade. Do you guys agree?
