Sunday drove up to my small retirement place which is a 2 1/2 drive one way. After several hours of working it was time head back to the Asylum(big city) My legs sore, well there’s not muscle that doesn’t hurt. I been manual labor all my life but move into office about 5 yrs ago so I am out of shape and my pains tell me. What do I have to show for all this for days work? One 16’ section of exterior wall😩 If I done this for living I be without job.

Every time I do a project like this, I am happy I don't make a living with my hands.

It's still fun though.

Slow is fast. Don't rush. Fixing mistakes takes too much time

I hear your pain. I stay in rather good physical shape and can bicycle 15 miles with no issues but I have been hanging and taping drywall the last week+ and I must say I have muscles I had forgotten about until they have been reminding me they are there since this project.

I feel lucky at 64 to still be able to keep up with the work but an old saying comes back to me, "what I used to do all day takes me all day to do."

Yes sir- every time I do something at my place its load up, drive 90 minutes, unload, set up, work, tear down, load up, drive 90 minutes home and unload. Its slow, but eventually you'll start seeing some real progress. At least that one wall section looks good!

We went up to our property in the mountains on Saturday to pack everything away for the winter. It is at 7,000’ and we live at 1,800‘. Just walking across the pad gets me winded. It usually takes 2-3 days to acclimate so I am not huffing and puffing with every little chore.

Back when the Olympic Games were held in Mexico City many of the athletes were bothered by the lack of Oxygen due to the thin air.

I feel your pain. We used to make the 3 hour drive every weekend and now we finally live here full time. The work we did on the weekends made moving up here possible.
Good for you putting in the work!
At the end of every work day, I'd walk in and say, "I'll have my usual dear"....(2 tylenol, 1 beer)

Can you set up a camping spot or sleep in your vehicle on the build site?

5hr round trip in one day would definitely mess up my productivity.

Congratulations on your progress and goodluck. Be safe out there
I actually have friend near by that I stay with when can spend more time. I will be spending my vacation there hopefully to get it dried in

I solo built my 30/36 in my backyard. Took me over 3 years. Can't imagine driving 2 hours to do it. Hire a framer to do it or work with you.
Also get a big bottle of advil. I start popping before i even start things that i know will hurt in 5 hours.
