Construction of my new 40x60x16 pole barn started today. I can't believe how fast they are able to work. They showed up promptly at 0730 and by 0900 all the holes were drilled already. I have a mix of dirt, rock, and boulders in the soil. They lucked out and only had to dig out one bigger rock. The rest of the holes went smoothly. I didn't want to get in their way too much or bother them with pictures. I was able to sneak a few pictures from afar though before I had to go in to work this evening. There are only 4 guys working and one skidsteer. I haven't seem them touch a ladder yet. They are efficient. I'll post more pictures up as they progress and after I make it back home this morning.
The planned use of the barn is mostly hobby space for me and my Dad. I have an old '62 Buick Special station wagon that I need to get back to working on, while Dad has a 1937 Mack BX that he has also neglected. Time to get everything under a roof and out of the weather. We also have a 1953 Dodge M37, and WW2 GMC 6x6 cut down to a 4x4, 1940 Brockway, a couple boats, Massey Ferguson 50H backhoe, Ford 9N tractor..... all sorts of stuff, most of which will not be seeing the inside of the barn very often, but working in the rain/snow/boiling sun on a gravel driveway is getting old and Dad can't really do that anymore. It miss working on things with him for fun rather than necessity, so hopefully this will help us both get back in the spirit.
