Sets like the 263 item for $189 show up ALL the time for $50 to $100, and with little or no wear on them used.

*** not being snotty, we must have posted at the same time, but I saw a dozen of these sets last weekend at the swapmeet. Part of it I think is that Home Depot doesn't sell individual parts, so take in a wrench for exchange and they break open a set, hand you the one wrench you need and rest of the set goes to whatever outlet and from there to the swapmeet.

I guess it depends on what you work on. I work on antique tractors and old vehicles a lot (The pre-metric kind with carburetors, point ignition etc). They do have corroded, rusted, frozen, rusted undersize, nuts and bolts. See there you answered your own question.:)

 Long live the V/8!

Same here. My combo and wratcheting wrenches are all 12 point at this time, but 90% of my sockets are 6 point. My cheapy Husky 3/8 shallow SAE and Husky 1/2 shallow are 12 point, but all of my good snap on sockets are 6 point. I work on old cars, I'd have a hard time if all I had was 12 point sockets.
