Starting from scratch...

Here is my newly purchased three car garage. This is the second home we have purchased but the first time I've ever had my own garage. Quite frankly I have sensory overload. One garage would have been great. Two even better. But three...holy **** I feel like the possibilities are endless.

The house was a foreclosure which was purchased by investors. They gutted the kitchen and replaced with new cabinets. Lucky for me they put all the old cabinets in the garage and they left them there for us. Not the greatest quality but they will be perfect for storage and a light duty work bench.

Still trying to determine how I want everything layed out. Eventually I want to build a 10x10 shed in the backyard to store my lawn equipment. That third bay will be primarily for my non car related hobbies...bicycle maintenance, training for bicycling (stationary trainer, some free weights, etc), and eventually home brewing and bicycle frame building. Thinking I may also use the third bay to roll cars in for maintenance and detailing since there is a big more room to work with and most of my tools will be in that bay. The other two car area will be for car storage and storage of car related maintenance items.

Kind of odd how it is split into two sections, would be nice if you ever want to paint something though

Also, it looks like there may be a fair amount of storage space above the garage, have you looked up there yet?

Are you planning on taking out the wall in between of does that become the man cave inside the man cave?

There is a ton of storage room up in the attic. Eventually I want to yank that window and put in a solar powered gable vent fan...no idea why you'd want a tinted window up in an attic.

About the wall, this house originally ended with the two car garage. In the late 90's the owner added on a new master suite and the third garage. The wall is going to stay and this will be the cave within the cave. Was thinking about one day running an a/c vent to it since it seals off from the rest of the garage. The wife isn't so keen on the idea though.

Weird thing is they stucco'd the interior of that third garage so any two tone paint scheme will be very difficult to accomplish. I guess I could knock it off to expose the bare concrete undeneath, but I'm not sure it will be worth the hassle.

A small wall unit AC would cool that 3rd bay nicely.

great space, and those look like they'll be some nice garage cabinets, I like the idea of the one bay being sperated from the others, would make a great paint booth.

Somewhat of an update. This weekend's promise of me spending a few minutes organizing my tools turned into two hours of rearranging things. Still not a ton done but this is where I am right now.

Proposed location of cabinets. Will have wall mounted cabinets as well. Probably going to mount them almost flush with the ceiling to provide more room for work on the counter top. Still using the old kitchen countertop with the sink in it for the time being. Going to replace it with the butcher block countertops from Ikea (super cheap). Will go with a grey color for the cabinets:

Trying to figure out what to do with this empty slot where the oven/range was originally installed. I want to put a tool box along this wall so I was thinking I either cut it out and join the two cabinets or maybe find a toolbox that fits in this space (30" wide and 24" deep):

Future space for compressor. Would like to relocate this telephone line junction box but I think I may keep it where it is and just clean up the wiring:

So that is it for now. I should start prep and primer on the cabinets this weekend. Hoping to get them done before the baby comes in a few weeks. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Looks good what kind of work do you do in your garage?

Single car garage is currently for the Jetta project. Still trying to get the damn thing started. Eventually it will be used for working on my mountain bikes and home brewing. I will also use it for car maintenance since all of my tools will be in that bay. The other two are for parking our two cars for now.

Down the road I want to try my hand at building some bicycle frames as well. Need to learn how to weld/braze.
