Starting Garage Renovation

Finally moving forward on my Garage Reno. Garage is detached 32 by 24. Already did LED’s throughout.

I finally picked a siding. Decided on 1/2’’ sanded plywood. Very smooth and nice. Cost $36 ea for 4 by 8. Also decided on Rockwool for insulation. When complete I’m pretty sure for now I’ll finish it with Racedeck.

I plan to post updated pics throughout.

My next decision is paint or stain the plywood. At the moment I’m thinking of doing Ready Seal Pecan due to fact of detached, no heat, no A/C. Plus I like the Wood look.

Looks great and good call on sealing both sides. But that is going to be close to $1000 in wall covering by the time you are done so it had better look damn good. At least you are playing it up by staining it to pull out the grain. Make sure you let that wood be the star and don't distract with some busy red and black floor like every RaceDeck owner seems to default to.

2nd board up. Decided to paint around the windows black and bottom 3/4’’ or so of baseboard. Forgot to do the very first baseboard board bottom but will when I get the paint out again.

I plan on doing most of what you are doing. Not going to go with Baltic Birch (?). If I use plywood, might stain it. Not sure what regular stained plywood looks like.

Looking forward to seeing the posts!

 Staining both sides before nailing. Might be overkill but I’m crazy. I’m not using Birch. It was $48 a board. Sanded Plywood here at $36 a board.

Negative, leave wide open. Love the access to storage up there. The goal here was a low footprint on the floor. Only items on the floor are daily use or use very often. No heat or A/C either.

Looks great do you plan to add a ceiling?

Thank you.. 2002 CR250 rocket ship. Original tires, chain, and top end. Will die with it or give to a son. Just sold a 2000 CR500 and 1998 KX500.

Looking good Hivolts, I like your choice of hobbies nothing like a good day of dirt bike riding.

Hivolts - I don't know how I missed this thread til now but it truly looks GREAT and I am enjoying the heck out of it.

It's great that it's original and not in keeping with what many of us do. IF you decide to finish the floor may I suggest a light gray to go along with the black and possibly yellow accents? Not a typical checkerboard pattern. Your wood paneling is fantastic and the yellow would make the whole room pop.

I hope you won't mind suggestions? Maybe paint the white board frame black also?

REALLY enjoying the look!

Thank you! Will surely keep the grey with yellow in mind.. I’m leaning toward Racedeck for now. Good ideal on the frame around the whiteboard. Will throw up a few more pics tomorrow of the peg board and bin roller cart.
