I am a long time lurker, first time poster on GJ. This site has been great in helping me decide exactly what I want to build. The purpose of this barn will be storage/work/man area.
Well first thing first, as the title shows, I have decided to go with a 28'X48'X16' pole building. The poles will be 6X6 20' long, burried 4'. I have decided to go with one industrial 14' tall, 12' wide door with remotes and one standard 68 entry.
So far I have cleared the area where the barn will go and hopefully if I did it right, you should see a picture of it below.

My layout for the barn:
The large door will be on the gable end.
With the 16' wall height, I am going to be able to put in a loft in the rear of the building. I am planning on coming out from the back wall 16' and splitting the height difference equally between the floor and ceiling. I am going to use standard joice style hangers and 2X10's covered with plywood for the loft.
The upper level of the loft will serve as a man room and will have a railing that will overlook the rest of the barn. I haven't decided exactly what kind of steps i'm going to use or how I am going to position them. I am leaning towards and L-shape with a small landing about halfway up.
I am a trapper, and do quite a bit of skinning and finishing in my current shed. Underneath of the loft, I will have a doulble stainless sink and a large 8' stainless prep table where I will do most of my trapping stuff.
Also under the loft area, I am planning to store my tractor and larger yard items like the cart, seeder...etc
I am going to put shelving up both sides of the walls prior to the loft and possibly an additional workbench on one side or the other.
I am also going to build a deck off of the back gable end of the building and have a door coming from the loft. I haven't decided on a size for the deck as of right now, I just think it would be cool to have a place to drink a few beers and maybe steam some crabs. I will keep everyone updated on the progress and try to take a lot of pictures.
I have the equipment coming the end of this week to start moving some more dirt.
