Starting Racedeck flooring install; Clarification Needed from How-To Video Please

Hi Everyone,

Okay I got my guillotine shear assembled, got gloves, kneepads, and I watched the Race Deck install video a few times now. There's one thing that isn't super clear to me.

In the video it's suggested that we close the garage door and mark a line on the floor where the door meets the floor. Is this where the end of the flooring should go (adding transition strip on later) or is there where the end of the transition strip should go....the gradient from floor to 1/2" Racedeck height?

In the video, nothing matches this line that I can see. Can someone clarify? Is the garage door supposed to freely shut as it normally would just in front of the transition strip or is it supposed to shut *on* the strip? Seems it wouldn't seal well if it shuts on the strip.

Logically, I think the strip should start where we're asked to mark a line at the edge of the closed garage door (from the inside of course).

Any advice here before I start? Thanks!

I have never marked a line in four RaceDeck installs. I simply line it up with a 3/8” gap on the corner of where the garage door meets the wall and work across from there. My transition strip then lines up just behind my door seal. I had to trim about 1/4” of my door tracks to get the tile underneath. I hope that helps. You can see in the picture below where my transition edge piece falls just behind the line where the door closes. It seals fine. 0B821F1D-079F-4FB9-8366-259A36E82379.jpeg

That explains it beautifully. Thanks for helping a guy build his confidence before a first-time install. I like to do things right as well so I'm always researching...probably overthinking it but that's me lol. Wow this is a gorgeous install. I love the simple yet bold layout here. Nice use of space too. This and other pictures inspire me.

Since i had a pattern that was following my garage doors instead of the garage footprint, i started my first lines of tiles here (in yellow).

I also used the lip of the garage entry to create a straight line.

I had to cut tiles on 3 sides (left, right, and back), but i got the look that i was going for.

Nice pattern there. Thanks for the guide!

I installed such that the flexible rubber seal on the bottom of the door just starts to engage the first 1/4" or so of the transition strip (black ramp-shaped trim piece) when it is 'squished' with the door closed.
