starting to do workbench

this is some cabinets and lowers I picked up a couple of years ago. Just starting to get garage together. painting the uppers black cabinets and harley orange doors. the lowers will be orange cabinets and black drawers and doors. total of 1inch top with 3/4 inch of plywood on top.
thinking of staining the top and then poly on that


anyone with suggestions they are welcome
top will be 27 inches deep and a 3/4inch plywood back total of 20 ft long

Make sure you got lotta plugs...up off the finished surface so stuff on the bench is not in the way.
I learned a long time ago...use 200 lbs. drawer slides...much better than the 100 lbs stuff...and will provide much smoother results.
I used 2x stock bolted down...then screwed 3/4 ply on top...that way I can pound the hell outa stuff and the top won't flex.

Looking very nice! Have you considered using 3/4" hardwood oak or maple flooring on top of a layer of plywood? It's not that many square ft and seconds are pretty easy to find. What I don't like about a 20' top made from 8' plywood are the seams. Either way it's going to look great, I really like the cabinets.

Looking great on the cabinets and bench. The Harley colors will be great on that combo.

the cabinets and bottoms someone posted on hear a few years ago and i went from new jersey to conn. to get them put them in storage for about 3 years till i built the new 33x44 garage with an attached house. now trying to organize the garage once and for all
