I have a steel bench in the basement, interlocking uprights not welded but I do light work. Right now there's a single plywood shelf on the bottom and **** just accumulates there. I would like to get a wheeless box with drawers that will slide into the space (57-1/2"w x 26-29" deep x 22"h)
Looks like this...

The drawer is **** and will be removed but the rest of the unit is strong enough ans I have some 3/4" plywood on the bottom.

I found a box made by Lista, a DW450 that will fit in there for $700, I'm waiting to get a response about the standard drawer configuration.

Is Lista a quality box? I looked through SO offerings but they are 3-4 times the price and they all seem to have a top lid which I cannot use as this will be under the bench.

I know for the same money I could get a 56" HF box and use it as bench but the one I have has risers and a top shelf with pegboard "back splash" which I'd like to keep.

Does anyone else make similar boxes to the Lista's?

thanks,

Rob

My dad put a regular eight drawer tool chest under his bench. He took the lid off and there was enough room between the box and the top of the bench without the lid to keep things that wouldn't go into the drawers. I'm currently in the process of setting up a bench in my basement and am going to do just that. My bench isn't as large as the one that you have but you could most likely have room to put a couple of craftsman boxes side by side.

Just a thought - you could just bolt the rear frame from your workbench to the wall. Thus retaining the peg board and light. Drill though the frame and use lag bolts or Tap-Con's into the wall. Then sit a 56" tool box in front of it. That would give you a lot more storage space.

Everything from LISTA that I've seen/used has been first class quality.

FWIW,
Carl B.
