Looking for recommendations for a steel building erector in NY/NJ/PA area. Plenty of pole / stick guys around here, having trouble finding a crew that specializes in rigid frame red iron steel construction.

Pre-engineered metal building? The projects I've worked on that have these are erected by the same manufacturer. Check here to see if they have some contacts here: https://www.mbma.com/

For a specific-engineered metal building with rigid frames, you will need a steel erector. Different guys. Again, typical for the steel fabricator to have an erection crew. So look into steel fabricators in your area.

I suggest you contact the representatives of the steel building manufacturers you are considering. They have an interest in your satisfaction with thier products. I'm sure that they want you to have a good experience with their products.

Is it possible to purchase engineered stamped drawings from a metal building supply co. without entering into contract with them?

I'm concerned about building permit issues / steel prices and would like to get my permitting and concrete work done prior to locking in.

My brother and father put up a 40x50x16 in AZ because they couldn't find an erector for less than 50% of the cost of the building...that was just before covid. Good luck now. If two guys (one bearing 70 with bad knees) and a rental lift can do it I'm sure you can. He had to get engineered and stamped drawings. The building Inspector was very suprised he did it him self..guess it's not that common, but it is just nuts and bolts.

I have never seen it happen and I have been selling buildings for twenty years. Have you talked to the building department? There is nothing stopping you from submitting plans for a permit. You don't need the metal building plans for the permit.

Not exactly the same, but I'm in the middle of erecting a building mostly by myself (CF, not red iron). Was engineered, permitted, and parts pre-fabbed. While it's a fair amount of work, it's nothing that somebody with some time, tools and general knowledge can't accomplish.
Mine isn't quite as large as what you're talking about, but working eves/weekends I have it mostly framed after a few weeks. Only offering this to you to not discount the DIY approach. YMMV based on your confidence in your skill level, of course.
