Im acting as "owner builder" so getting city permits is on my plate. At plan submital redlines included a city requirement to have sprinklers and also to supply a floor plan. The building supplier doesent do sprinklers and simply dismisses the need for a floor plan as "just use the foundation plan". It will be clear span so it is almost the foundation plan with an addition of an entry door that the city wants marked. Anyone have to submit a floorplan on a steel building? Were there any notes and callouts or just the drawing? The city also asks for the "purpose" of the building. Is that a statement somewhere on the floorplan? Would be nice to see some samples if anyone can share.

Its a "personal workspace and storage area"

They are looking for illegal businesses.

Just take the foundation plan, make a copy, and mark it up with the doors, windows, etc. Don't give them any info they don"t need or ask for. KISS.

How much does a sprinkler system cost to cover, say, 1000sqft, anyway?
I was thinking it'd be a good idea regardless of the city requirements.
